Chalkboard Art for Fall

Fall finally arrived this weekend in Texas. At one point yesterday, we were in the 40s with a bit of wind and rain! We even made our first fire of the season to celebrate the cool weather.

Notice anything different about my chalkboard? Well yes, I did change the art, but I also changed the frame color. How do you like it?  Even though I loved the red colored frame, it sort of stuck out like a sore thumb in our newly redecorated kitchen.  I think I like this shade of green better than the red!

I loved the look of THIS pumpkin so I tried my best to recreate it, but in color.  I used my crayola brand chalks again as I have with all my other chalk art designs.

It took me a while to get the pumpkin to look like I wanted it to, but as usual I really love how it turned out!  Just in case the crayola people are reading this now, could you make some Fall colored chalks? Alrighty! Thanks!

The purple and blue "Fall" is a bit out of the Fallish color scheme, but ya know, sometimes you just gotta use what you have available at the time! LOL!

On the pumpkin itself, after I went over the outside lines several hundred times, I laid the chalk on its side and used it to shade or color in the body of the pumpkin. Looks pretty cool!

Now I've got to do something to doll up those two white candles on top of the hutch.  Oh Pinterst...here I come!

It doesn't have to be done all at once.  It is a slow process in the works! C-ya next time!

Chalkboard Art for Summer

Here in Texas our summer has been pretty mild as summers go in the big state! We are lucky for that too!  Right now our highs are in the 90s which is cool for us...certainly better than the 100s we would normally have.

I wanted to change the chalkboard to greet summer, you know, something that related mainly to summer.....watermelon came to mind!

This is what I ended up with.  I drew the watermelon first and then added the words. 

At first I only had these words...sweet summer.  But it didn't seem to be complete looking to me.  So I added the Welcome up top.

I liked this a lot better.  It balanced out the whole board and made it look more even to me.

To me its still a bit off balanced because of the placement of it all, but that's what happens when you freestyle a chalkboard design.  I can live with it I guess. LOL!

To draw the watermelon, first I added the green rind and colored it in.  Next I added the white line.  The pink meat was next.  I drew the outline first then added the seeds.  I then colored it in.  I got into the seeds a bit so I used a wet paper towel and a wet Qtip to clean up those areas.

I really like how the watermelon turned out and as I've said in almost all my other chalkboard art creations, it will be hard to erase it and add something new.

It doesn't have to be done all at once.  It is a slow process in the works! C-ya next time!

Chalkboard Art for Camping

We're still working on the kitchen remodel, its a big job so we'll be in there for a while.  The cabinets are on the "to-do" list right now and since we are using our existing cabinets and re-working them, we've ran into a few snags we are trying to work out,  Maybe next week I'll have some pictures for you to see!  Check out my Instagram link on the right for some sneak peeks!

On to today's subject. I decided to decorate our little chalkboard with a new subject.  Camping!  We haven't gone camping as much as we've wanted to, but we will get there some day.  This is what I'm thinking all the time...Let's go camping!

I even added the little ham can camper that I'd love to have some day.  They are so cute and it would be so much fun to restore one and go camping in it!

See the blue chalk outline around the word camping. It made a huge difference in the look of my final art piece.

Here's the before look that I stared at for about a week thinking something was missing.  It just needed something else to make it look finished.  The "m" and the "p" were not separated and it was bothering me.

I like it much better outlined.  It makes the letters more defined and also highlights the main subject of the art.  I think I've told you before that I have a hard time erasing these chalkboard creations, but this one may be even harder to do!

It doesn't have to be done all at once.  It is a slow process in the works! C-ya next time!

Chalkboard Art for Easter

In the past we've shown you a few other versions of our chalkboard art. There's the 4th of July art HERE that my honey created (I love it so much) and the Valentine's Day art HERE that I created.  How about some art for Easter from both of us? We created this art together. I did the words and my honey drew the eggs! Love it!

For the letters, I first drew the outline of each letter and filled the entire word in with white chalk.  I didn't really think it looked very interesting being all white.  My honey suggested I add color.  I left the white outline but colored each letter with a different color of chalk.

He created the eggs in the same manner. Outlined in white chalk and then colored in with colored chalk.  After all the coloring was finished, I went back with white chalk and outlined it all again just to make the colors pop.

I love making these chalk art creations, but its always hard to erase all of our hard work when its time for a new one.  At least I take lots of pictures to remember them with.

It doesn't have to be done all at once.  It is a slow process in the works! C-ya next time!
